The Lord’s Prayer Explained

Many of us do memorize and say the Lord’s prayer; but have we ever tried to understand its real meaning behind the words? Since it’s from Bible, so it too should be interpreted well. There’s a purpose of every line of the prayer which we should mean it from the bottom of our hearts. Here is a short explanation to the different lines of the Lord’s Prayer.

“Our Father, Hallowed be thy name”

It means that we have only one heavenly Father and His name is Holy & wonderful and should be Honoured.

“Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

Jesus want us to follow His footsteps which reflects how it’s done in the heaven. We should abstain all the things which degrades His name. Free yourself from all negativities and bad influences and keep His names higher.

“Give us this day our daily bread”

We should value the food we get in our daily life. Don’t glutton. Don’t waste food. He will provide you the daily bread required.

“Forgive our debts & sins as we forgive our debtors”

This is the most common line which most of us pray, but don’t practice in real life. Until & unless we don’t forgive each & every person in the earth from the bottom of our hearts, we can’t ask for forgiveness for the sins we’ve committed. Free yourself from all the grudges, egos and proud feelings. Forgive first, then as for Repentance.

“Lead us not into Temptations but deliver us from evil”

Don’t put yourselves where you get tempted. God has given us the wisdom to judge between right and wrong, good and bad, so if we deliberately go towards what is wrong or bad, God is not responsible for the further consequences when you cry for help. Don’t eat the apple when you’ve been instructed to do so. You’ll be able to overcome all the temptations you face until the moment you’re connected wholeheartedly with Him. Don’t leave Him, He won’t leave you ever when you’re stuck in evil influences and will take you out from there.

“For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever”

Bring glory to His name. Follow what He instructs. Walk on His path. Obey what He commands.

So, from next time onward, when you pray, remember these summary and mean it from the core of your heart. When you really feel the prayer and its each words, assume your prayer has been delivered.
