The first seed of Orthodox Syrian Church was laid in central India when our forefathers came out in search of jobs and they settled here in working with Bhilai Steel Plant. The Holy Qurbana was conducted for the first time in August 1957 by Fr. K K Punnose who later became the Bishop H G Dr. Stephanos Mar Theodosius of Calcutta Diocese. There are many spiritual organizations functioning actively within the parish.

St. Thomas Orthodox Youth League

The Youth Movement members meet regularly. The members render full support to the various programmes of the Church. Charitable projects are being organized from time to time. The Youth League owns an Ambulance which it lends to the Christian Community on request.

Sunday school is very active in our Church. About 150 children and 15 teachers attend the Sunday School. We have classes from Class I to Class XII. Our students actively participate in all the Diocesan level Sunday School Competitions and secure prizes for both academic and cultural activities. Sunday School has substantially contributed to the spiritual growth of the children in our Parish.

The Martha Mariam Samajam meets regularly every Sunday after the Holy Qurbana. The members undertake Bible Study and Group Discussions. Classes are conducted by the Vicar of the Parish. The members actively participate in all Competitions held at the Diocesan level and have won several prizes. Martha Mariam Samajam periodically engages in charitable activities as well. They also lead in organizing programmes during 8 days lent and Sale Fest during the annual day celebrations. Sector wise Samajams are also functioning at their

There are 7 prayer groups functioning in our Parish. Regular prayer meetings are held and these prayer groups lead in Christmas Carols.
